A luxury villa in Sóskút got the prize of the most beautiful house in Hungary in 2013. A weekend-house near Balaton and one in Kővágószőlős got Special Prizes. The villa won the prize thanks to its tidiness and functionality and the weekend-houses for their ability to merge traditions with modernity.A luxury villa located in Sóskút, Pest County became the House of the Year in 2013. The house evocating the compactness of the rural architecture was built by the plans of architect Tamás Dévényi. The form of the building is simple, it is built mostly of wood and metal; and the house and the garden form a harmonic whole.
The Special Prize Winners
One of the Special Prize-winners is a weekend-house located near Balaton, in Szigliget, built by the plans of architects Tamás Bulcsu, Éva Fortvingler and Tamás Móser. The house merges tradition and modernity together, which was rewarded by the jury of the Hungarian Architect Chamber. According to the opinion of the experts the building shows it is possible to coexist with the nature using modern materials and technologies when building a house.
Tradition and Modernity
Another weekend-house got a Special Prize; this one is located in Kővágószőlős, in Baranya County. The property winning the appreciation of the jury of the Hungarian Architects Association was built by the plans of the Kossuth Prize winner architect dr. Zoltán Bachman and the Junior Prima Prize winner Ágnes Borsos. This house is also an exciting example of merging tradition with modernity; proving old and new architectural methods can fit together.
Hungarian Architecture is Ready to Enter Western Europe
According to the opinion of György Fekete, the president of the Hungarian Academy of Arts the rewarded buildings prove that Hungarian architecture is ready to enter Western Europe; and we will witness this in the year of architecture celebrated in 2015 as well. This year the winners were selected from 32 buildings by the jury, which renowned Hungarian architects were part of.
