The 10 thousandth employee started working in the 20-year-old Audi factory in Győr. The factory provides jobs not only for the locals; the newest employee for example came from Heves County, and started working in the engine manufacturing department. A new engine is manufactured in every ten seconds in the factory; which means a daily 8 thousand pieces are made.The 10 thousandth employee started working in the Audi factory in Győr. Norbert Honfi came from Felsőtárkány, Heves County, and started his job in the engine manufacturing department. 20 years ago the manufacturing began in this very department of the factory, and it’s been in process since: a new engine is manufactured in every ten seconds; which means that a daily 8 thousand pieces are made. In the first half of 2013 in total more than 1 million engines were manufactured, and the 25 millionth piece is about to be made soon.
Further 150 Employees Are Planned to Be Hired
At the party organized for celebrating the employment of the 10 thousandth worker of the factory HR manager Erzsébet Knáb mentioned that the company has recently employed new workforce not only in the engine manufacturing department, but in the tool manufacturing and the engineering development department as well. By September 2011 the number of the employees of the company became 7 thousand, by April 2012 8 thousand, and by February 2013 9 thousand. This year 1300 new employees have been hired, and further 1500 are planned to be employed. The new model of the factory, the Audi A3 Cabriolet – which has already been introduced to the public in Frankfurt – will be manufactured in Győr.
The Company Was Founded with a Capital of EUR 100 Million
Audi Hungaria Motor Ltd. is the Hungarian subsidiary of the German Audi AG, which was founded with a capital of EUR 100 million, and was opened in the 100-thousand-square-meter building of former RÁBA Automotive Holding PLC in 1993. The main activities of the factory are engine, engine parts and tool manufacturing. Audi is one of the biggest foreign investors in Hungary; the Győr factory provides 9 percent of the country’s export. The German investor have realized in total EUR-4-billion worth investments in Győr.
