Did you know? - The Most and Least Expensive Apartments in Hungary

Back

There's a vast chasm between the prices of the most and the least expensive Hungarian properties. In the first case the price can be more than HUF 2 million per square meter, and in the latter one it is only around HUF 10 thousand. The most expensive property in Hungary is currently a luxury apartment in the city centre with a view at the Danube, and one of the least expensive ones is an adobe house in Nyíregyháza.

There's a not less than 160-times difference between the prices per square meter of the most and the least expensive properties in Hungary. The most expensive apartments, which are usually located in the city centre, have a terrace and a view at the Danube, cost more than HUF 2 million (EUR 6700) per square meter. But at the same time in the country we can buy a house for only around HUF 10 thousand (EUR 34) per square meter.

Luxury Apartment for HUF 1.4 Billion

The price of a property is usually determined by its location, state and the costs of sustainment. So those that have good transport links or an excellent view – and usually located in Buda or at the city centre – can cost an astonishing amount. Although the currently most expensive house is in the 14th district: the 1400-square-meter villa located at a 5-thousand-square-meter land has 22 rooms and costs HUF 1.4 billion (EUR 4.7 million). But we can get a luxury apartment also for "only" HUF 450 million (EUR 1.5 million): the 280-square-meter, two-story facility has a 70-square-meter terrace and is located in the 5th district. There are luxury properties near Lake Balaton as well: in Siófok or in Fonyód several houses are waiting for their new owners who can pay several thousand million forints for them.

Houses for under HUF 1 Million

At the another end of the list there are properties that can be bought for under HUF 1 million (EUR 3400). The cheapest property sold by Hungarian real estate agency Otthon Centrum this year was a 70-square-meter house, which was sold for HUF 890 thousand (EUR 3 thousand). The cost of the house located in Tormafölde, which needs to be renovated, was HUF 12 thousand (EUR 40) per square meter. But we can buy a house for HUF 10-20 thousand (EUR 30-60) per square meter also in Tápiógyörgye or Tiszaföldvár and even in Budapest. A 61-square-meter apartment located in the 8th district has been sold for HUF 2 million (EUR 6700) recently.
