A Novelty Video Promotes Budapest

Back

A young photographer chose a novelty way to promote the Hungarian capital. Norbert Németh made a time-lapse video of Budapest of more than 8 thousand photos. Watching the video we can see the capital and its monuments day and night, in winter and in summer, with and without a crowd of locals and tourists.

The young photographer Norbert Németh created a special time-lapse video of Budapest. He took more than 50 thousand pictures for the video, from which 8500 pieces were used for the final version. He worked a several hundred hours making the video. During the short movie the symphonic version of pianist Balázs Havasi’s piece called ‘The Storm’ is played.

The Time-Lapse Technology

Time-lapse is a technology used in photography. With the help of this technology we can create a video which seems to be played in fast motion. The essence of the technology is the pictures taken shortly after one another (for example, with a time difference of 10 seconds) are played continually, in real time. This method is frequently used in movies, mostly at times when the goal is to demonstrate time going by. With this technology the movie-makers are capable of demonstrating events that would be too slow to be able to be watched in real time (for example sunrise, sunset or growing of a plant).

Success of the Video on the Video-Sharing Sites

Norbert Németh used this frequent method when making his video, which was shared 3 weeks ago on the most popular video-sharing website, and has already had 150 thousand viewers. A great number of the comments are by foreign viewers from Poland to Italy, who praise the beauty and the creativity of the video. The work of the photographer proves that a good idea is enough to create an ad that promotes the country more successfully than an official one.

Budapest Day and Night

The short movie gives the viewer a tour around Budapest: we can see the capital day and night, in winter and in summer. We can walk along the enlightened Chain Bridge, the Heroes Square, the banks of the Danube, visit the National Museum or the Buda Castle.
