The city centre of Győr is about to be renewed. The investment will be realized by next summer, and the HUF 750 million cost will be covered by EU resources that Győr got by winning a tender. The small streets of the city centre and the relief roads will be reconstructed. Several information boards will be placed in the city to give some important data about famous Győr-born people. 
Győr got HUF 750 million for the renewal of the city centre. The contract of the rehabilitation project covered by EU resources was signed at the end of September 2013. In the past few years several million-worth developments were realized: the important roads have been reconstructed. Now the smaller roads of the city centre and the relief roads are planned to be renewed. Information boards will also be placed in the city to give some important data about famous Győr-born people.
The Investment Can Be Realized by Next Summer
According to the telling of the Mayor of the city, Zsolt Borkai thanks to these investments Győr is more like a cultural centre than an industrial city now. Because of the new investments cultural events organized at the extended open spaces of the city will attract more people. This will allow the locals to organize more events at the same time. According to the plans the renewed Dunakapu tér will be opened by the end of the constructions as well.
