3rd Shift Launches in the Mercedes Factory in Kecskemét

The 3rd shift was launched in the Mercedes Factory in Kecskemét at the beginning of May. The number of the employees of the factory now reached 3500; the training of the new workers has already been finished. From now on the factory, which has become one of the most popular employers of the region, is manufacturing cars 24 hours a day.

The 3rd shift was launched on the 5th May 2014 in the Hungarian Mercedes-Benz factory in Kecskemét; thus the plant is now manufacturing cars 24 hours a day. The number of the Hungarian employees of Mercedes reached 3500: the training of the new workers has already been finished. The former CEO of Mercedes’s Hungarian subsidiary declared in March that a new shift would be launched in May to satisfy the increased demand for their products. The new compact car models of Mercedes are manufactured in the Kecskemét and the Rastatt factory; in the latter one 3 shifts have been operating since 2012. In the Hungarian factory more than 109 thousand pcs of cars were manufactured last year.

History of Mercedes-Benz in Hungary

The German automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz was founded by Karl Benz Paul Daimler in 1926. The company manufactures luxury cars, buses and trucks. The company headquartered in Stuttgart opened its Kecskemét plant in March 2012, 4 years after the declaration of the investment. The aim of the strategic partnership agreement signed by Daimler AG and the Hungarian government in November 2012 was to strengthen the Kecskemét region for a long time, and to make it the center of the Hungarian automotive industry.

The Factory Is One of the Most Popular Employers of the Region

The number of the employees of the factory was more than 3000 in December 2012. The plant became one of the most popular employers of the county. Within the confines of their dual vocational training system and dual college education they have more than 65 students. In 2012 the company won the title “Employer of the Year” on the TOP 200 gala of weekly economic newspaper Figyelő. The factory is currently working with 25 local subcontractors.
